54th Dainty World Championships

Introduced to Louisville in 1800 by German immigrants, Dainty is a street game played with two irregular sized sticks. It was revived in 1971 by George Hauck and Charlie Vettiner, and has been played at the iconic Hauck's location for decades. Hundreds gather in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood on the last Monday in July to spectate the World Championship Dainty Contest, with the person hitting the longest shot winning eternal glory and the person hitting the shortest shot receiving a bucket of lemons.
